Ministy to the Military in the U.S.A.

In recent years, the Church of God has begun an effort to bring this same support experienced overseas to military members assigned to the U.S.A. Presently, 201 local Churches of God located near military installations in the U.S.A. have been identified as "Military Contact Churches." Each of these churches are opening their arms to military personnel and seeking to minister to them through programs and fellowship designed to meet their needs.

Ultimately, we desire to have operating a worldwide network of military ministries that will track the U.S. Forces members from the first day of basic training through technical school, to every overseas and stateside assignment, into the war zones, and finally to his/her retirement or separation from military duty. Even after the service member leaves the military, we want to see that they are successfully integrated into the ministry of the local church.

We also want to keep them involved in the support of military ministries through the Fellowship of Cornelius.

To fulfill the Ministry to the Military motto "There Because We Care" involves more than a fair amount of travel and sacrifice for our military "missionaries." Most of our center directors are ex-military with long experience in the overseas environment and knowledge of the pressure faced by service families. All of the men are veteran pastors.

Mission, Vision, & Core Values

Our Mission
To enable armed forces personnel and their families to effectively live a Christian Life in the global military environment of the 21st century.

Our Vision
To reach and involve armed forces personnel in a Cornelius style ministry. From the time they take the oath of service, throughout all deployments, until finally returning to continued fruitful service in their home church.

Our Core Values
The Ministry to the Military exists to establish and maintain CARING New Testament fellowships, under the auspices of the Church of God, in COOPERATION with the military chaplaincy, in order to REACH ALL PEOPLE for Christ and to TRAIN lay leaders for Christian service.

Our ministry should be evaluated, based upon our adherence to the follow ing core values:

CARING:Expressing the love of Christ in practical ways – to others in our fellowship and in the community where God has called us to serve.

COOPERATION:We seek to be a compliment to the ministry and services of our military communities. We especially desire to work along side of, instead of in competition with our military chaplains. It is our hope we can be seen as an extension of the Command Religious Program where we are stationed.

REACHING:Through evangelism – to reach the unsaved soldier, sailor, marine, and airman; outreach – to reach those taken from their home church who have not reconnected where they're stationed; and discipleship – for those who have responded to our reaching.

DIVERSITY:All People; In the body of Christ there is no preference between race, rank, sex, marital or socio-economic status. Our fellowship should reflect the people and needs of our community.

TRAINING:We are on an assembly line of recruiting, training and deploying workers for the Kingdom of God and His church around the world. Folks involved with our fellowship should learn to worship, serve and lead – whether in a military chapel, deployed to a war zone or involved in a local church.
